Dorothy Lea, O.D.
Dr. Lea, resident dry eye specialist at our Bee Cave location, grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland before attending the University of Maryland. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, she worked at an advertising agency in New York City before making the decision to switch careers to optometry.
Dr. Lea received her optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry, before practicing in Los Angeles, including time spent at the West Los Angeles VA Health Center.
Dr. Lea is passionate about travel and global vision care, which has certainly influenced her career. She’s traveled the country to gain valuable experience in a variety of different optometric environments, including remote Indian reservations through the Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Navajo Health Center in New Mexico. Dr. Lea also worked in Washington, DC at Washington Eye Physicians and Surgeons for a time. Abroad, she has participated in vision screenings in El Salvador and taught English in Spain and China.
In her free time, Dr. Lea admits to missing the beaches of LA, but loves experiencing the live music and warm weather of Austin with her boyfriend and their puppy.
